teevee - I wasn't trying to diss you I'm just a bit of a Canadian history buff. Actually I was very surprised when I found out about this little known bit of our history. I'm not sure if you care or not but the reason that we know so little about the Northwest Co. is that it was a loose association of French trappers who wrapped up their business at the end of each season and didn't keep records from year to year. The HBC on the other hand kept exhaustive records which are archived in London. This allows historians to study them and we therefore hear so much more about them.
