Good work!

Like you I believe the future belongs to the wireless world. Fortunately I got on board RIM at $5.20 and was able to ride it to over $18. Also have IWM and MCF. Plus the leader in cellular positioning services Technor (based in Sweden).

I can't believe the potential of WIN, but only having discovered it a couple of weeks ago can well imagine it is very overlooked.

Bought more during today's mini-sellout 700 @ $4.73.

I'm looking forward to news!

Whitey,

Dear Surf,

Thank you for your posting and your support.

The information on shares is available but almost never in one place.

Wi-LAN has about 12.3 million Common Shares that can be traded freely.
The approximate number of outstanding Common Shares is 18.4 million (which means 7.1 million are in escrow). There are some options which make the approximate total if all options were exercised 20.1 million Common Shares.

To make things simpler, I multiply the share price times 20 million to get the valuation of the company.

I hope that this helps.

It is me again. I posted this message on another chat group in response to a request for an update.

Thank you for your continued interest in Wi-LAN.

As you know, Wi-LAN announced early in March that it has retained Scotia Capital Markets to help it in its search for strategic partners. This was in response to an increased interest in Wi-LAN and its patented technologies.

In July 1998, the IEEE which is a an international body of electrical and electronic engineers approved a draft standard for high speed speed (upto 54 Mbps) wireless local area networks (LANs). Wi-LAN's patented W-OFDM technology is required for the implementation of devices complying with the IEEE802.11a draft standard. This was the focal point of the initial interest. This interest was initially from semiconductor companies but then expanded to wireless LAN manufacturers.

In November 1998, Wi-LAN announced the completion of a prototype operating at 30Mbps for a W-OFDM wireless Ethernet networking device. This is scheduled for launch in the second quarter of calendar 1999 which means within the next few weeks. This launch would be an important event for Wi-LAN and for various standards groups.

However, as time went on, Wi-LAN signed of a telecommunications operators such as Telia in Sweden and RSL Com in Canada on top of its earlier agreement with Tele2(UK). This generated some interest from system makers. We are at various stages of discussions with various companies in each of the categories mentioned above.

I cannot give the exact nature of the discussions, a time frame on when to expect a deal nor, for that matter, that there will be a deal. At all times, we are working diligently to do what is in the best interest of the shareholders.

Please watch our press releases for further updates.
