Well at least your honest, the same has been said to me from time to time.
As far as the rest of your post it's pretty simple (at least to my simple mind) in that when demand exceeds supply those who chase the supply that can't satisfy the demand run the price up. this is exactly what has been going on with the I-Nuts for some time. the program changes a bit when the supply matches demand (via IPO's, secondary's and the like), or perhaps demand begins to taper off because as the price gets bid up fewer are willing to pay the going rate or heavens forbid the psychology of the demand shifts as investors become dissapointed due to the lack of shareholder wealth, ie people come to their senses. Don the whole of the stock market is driven by supply and demand. Ask any short seller (sucessful that is) and he'll tell you it's numero uno. It's also the engine behind the run up with the internuts!
The anology with the Apple OS does not apply. In that case Apple created allies for Microsoft out of everyother electronic component manufacturer in that APPL wanted the whole pie and all MSFT wanted was the measley little operating system. Every other component manufacturer worked like hell to support MSFT (even though their OS sucked) because it was the way to sell monitors, graphics cards, boxes, printers, application software and the like.
Poor APPL, it never pays to have too many enemies, you might get outnumbered.
