It's all about expectations and dreams. Of course the sales numbers are good - the Internet is growing like crazy and everybody looks like they are geniuses. But what this attracts is competition. Smart, well financed, and capable competition. Competition on the Internet has hardly started. It is like tiptoeing through the tulips now. It will be like doing belly flops on shards of glass within a couple of years.

But for now it;'s just a matter of an upset to the near term scenario of growth and losses. Soon we'll get the summer doldrums to quiet things down further. But then we'll see a build up for next fall/Christmas and the net commerce stocks will rise again on Great Expectations.

Or something like that ; ^)

i just saw the pcln ceo on cnbc,,he seemed very smart and charismatic,,,but the problem is it is a extremely low profit margin business,,,,when they repot their sales of i.e.40 million in airline tickets ,that is the total of the ticket and not their profit which is around 1-5$ a ticket same goes with travel and loans ,,so their numbers are very misleading,,,the have a bigger market cap than the 3 major airlines put together,,when i invest noeadays i say to myself what is the upside to this company ?can they grow into their current market cap?? and my answer to pcln is 2 no's,,,their earnings were somewhat of a disappointment considering the stock price,,,by the way the pcln made a negative comment regarding amzn,, he said somthing to the affect of "we have a patented business model thus preventing competitors ,,so anyone can't just start their own identical site ,,that is the problem with companies like amzn,,"it is not an exaact quote but pretty close,,
