Herbert- I have always wanted to see an agreement between AOL and ATHM. Maybe the UMG deal will bring AOL to the table again with terms more ATHM friendly. I believe it is to AOL's advantage to strike a deal with ATHM, especially if new ATHM subscribers are dropping AOL like a bad transmission out of a '56 Pontiac Chieftain (I actually had one). Those AOL subscriber numbers are awesome.

Now...AOL needs ATHM...not vice-versa.

Imagine if AOL owned a large stake in @Home and by default Excite, too.
You realize of course that AOL had a big chunk of Excite that they dumped on the open market the day the ATHM/XCIT merger was announced. Tells you what they thought about being part of the @home family.
