Max Pain is @670 per Fridays close. Depending on what happens tomorrow with Call/Put Volumes will skew it. More Call buying will lower the Max Pain point, Put volume will increase it.

r,

I don't know that I would buy them now. Upside risk (for PUTS) increased today with the selloff. Plus the premiums were inflated today. If you could have bought them...say...early last week, then you'd be in business.

BWDIK,

Chris

r.edwards, options are gambling, so you want to make sure
everything is lined up perfectly for a major decline before making the bet.

Although I'm short presently, I am waiting for the small caps
to show some weakness (and therefore the advance decline),
and then wait for sto rsi 8-5 to become overbought again, before
loading up on putz.

I would stick with the OEX LEAP puts, with at least over a year and a half left until expiration. One needs PLENTY of time to be correct on downmoves in this type of market, so it is far better to give up some leverage for more time safety in my opinion.
I "wrote the book" on losing money in short term OEX options in the 1980's, so you don't want to be like the old me. It hurts!!! Yogi
