I'm not so sure about the assertion that the public has that much more at stake this time around. There was no SS back then and few pension plans to really count on so I think the net assets at risk were on the same order of magnitude. You may be correct from one aspect in that people didn't live that long and relied on family support in final years, but from a current accumulated wealth standpoint, I don't think your argument holds water. Feel free to prove this wild ass statement wrong. -g-

I see Nick posted one reference to the PPT. There are others on this thread including the gov't description on the purpose of setting up the group and what it was to do in theory. I know Joe G. posted a few of those to me back a year or two ago.
