Voting over the Internet - good idea. But is proxyvote.com real?

How do you know?

I went there and there are NO information about who they are, no email address, no phone number, nothing...

I know it's a secure site, but all the certificate says is that this site has been registered with the name "proxyvote.com" - anybody can register any sitename - no guarantee.

I entered my control number but the reply i got was "online voting not available right now" (something to this idea.)

How do I know they didn't just take my control number and use it themselves?

I'm not saying that MY vote has a lot of value, but enough people give them their votes they might actually make a difference.

I'm not generally a paranoid person, but this site just don't feel bonafida.
