The businesses that Jack Welch carried GE out of they definately didn't suck at. The problem was they couldn't compete. There is a difference. You're correct, if Zap were going into jet engines they would be laughed off the street. But jet engines are a relatively old business compared to the internet and everyone knows that to be good on the internet all you need is a programmer, a Power Point slide show and some venture capital. It's not exactly brain surgery we're talking about here J.Y.
