Well, the analysis fails on a point which you probably see now but that just reminded me of something. Having email address imprinted on checks would be a good idea since I receive more email than U.S. mail anyway and is less intrusive than listing phone number.

I thought this odd given how many people supposedly had written to them with contributions.

Some people may not have provided an email address to Mercy & Life when the donations were given. A hardcopy letter was mailed to these individuals. Many also gave to their churches as well as other charities for the effort. Hope this helps.
