Watching CNBC. They say that PCLN is expected to go up today in the face of a good earnings report. CNBC also mentioned something like yesterday was PCLN's first "5000 ticket sale day" and their sales are increasing every day. What I think is happening is that with the ensuing summer season, people are trying to strike some bargains on air tickets through PCLN and they are succeeding in doing so.

Now about the Street.com article. I have bought 3 refurbished computers by bidding at ONSALE. I have been happy with all those purchases. Yes, I did not win everytime I bid. But I had control over my bid. I have not bid at Priceline. But the Street article seems to imply that the bidders at Priceline do not get a feel for what they are bidding on. If that is the case then I would ask who these "5000 a day" people are? Maybe merchandise is something that people would like to see before they buy as in ONSALE, but for airline tickets, they are not interested which airline they fly as long as it takes them to their destination "safely" for the price they are willing to pay.

"that was very artificial...you should study how to spot and recognize short squeezes..."

"the momentum is now to the downside for this overvalued, overhyped, overdone paper..."

I hope you don't short stocks based on your own knowledge b/c I haven't seen a post that has been any more off the mark than yours in a long time. Take a look at instanet and Happy shorting.

Coach
Enlighten me. You say that on the day the stock spiked at $160, It was due to a short squeeze. At 3:15 PM that day the stock was selling at about $135, at about 3:40 it was at $165. Are you saying the shorts had to drive the price up almost $30 just to cover?

Look, I agree with you on PCLN...way overvalued, IMO, but weren't you saying the same thing at $80 and it doubled in about a week from there ?????

It is a top-tier Net name with a tiny float compared to shares outstanding....that could make for a very dangerous formula for the shorts...

Neither long-nor-short PCLN but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY LONG NETP !!!!

Jimbo.
