I created an indicator I call "Yanks". Its based on tracking and cumulating over time stocks that gap up at the open but close much lower. There are remarkable differences between securities. Also you tend to get a bunch of yanks in a row, especially on downtrends. Its a good measure of how hated a stock is. Take a look at a BAMM and it gets yanked almost every single day. It also measures the non-yanks, when stocks gap up and close higher. I look for these on downtrends as potential reversal patterns. My point is, I'm warry of this gap up as I expect it to be another yank.
