IDT at press time was preparing to make Net2Phone a more chat-friendly option by including software that allows someone in a chat session to be called by another session participant without letting the caller know the called party's phone number. 2. AOL, as Netscape's new owner, will be enabling all its users to engage in voice chat simply by supplying them the new Navigator software, notes Net2Phone's Greenblatt...IDT would like to build on its Netscape affiliation with a closer link to AOL and its chat support system...,Greenblatt says. 3. Both @Home Network and its friendly rival, Road Runner Group which together serve more than 700,000 customers in North America, are exploring voice chat options...The company is preparing to add voice capabilities to its chat rooms. 4. In all cases, even though such big service providers have their own backbones, they need the gateways and other telephony components that IDT can provide.
