From Yahoo board...OMPT, Bethesda, Maryland, May 4 (Bloomberg) -- Omnipoint Corp., a provider of wireless phone services, could
soon find a strategic partner to buy the entire company or purchase a stake in it for about $18 per share,
Fortune said, citing analysts. The company has told investors it received four written proposals that could
end its year-long search to improve its financial operations and pay off $2.3 billion in debt. First Union
Capital Markets analyst Carolyn Luther Trabuco said the company's New York and Boston licenses and
networks are ''extremely'' attractive to potential suitors, which could include SBC Communications Inc.,
MCI WorldCom Inc., Western Wireless Corp. and Powertel Inc., unidentified analysts told the magazine,
while Omnipoint declined comment.
