Of COURSE the intl majors are shorting oil. They pay royalties based on the price of oil. It is in their best interests to short if there is any chance the price is a speculative bubble.

What you DIDN"T mention in your quote was the sentence before the one you quoted, which essentially said that if the oil majors are wrong then their covering will drive prices sharply higher.

How often have they been right lately (VVBG!)?? Were they right about OPEC coming to an agreement? About the level of compliance? About Asia or South America? About ANYTHING?
