brees--- According to the Jesuits, who are usually followed on this by the whole Church, repentance can be successful if motivated by a true fear of the Lord, even if one doesn't have adequate shame. However, also in Catholic theology, there is always Purgatory, so that the sinner will be purified to be able to stand in the presence of God, and the demands of justice will be satisfied. Thus, no one merely gets away with anything....

Ever notice how many death row murderers have sincere conversions? Now, in Slob's case, he either doesn't believe in God, or believes that God is on his side.

On a side note, I can still remember, from our history, our cavalry charging into an indian village screaming "For God", while they slaughtered innocent men, women and children. It was wrong then, and it is wrong now.
