I'd be very surprised if it wasn't the McData switch at this point. The HWP-HDS alignment is very important and positive for us long term.

The HWP switch announced today is NOT an Ancor switch. It is a McData switch which was "won" last summer. My understanding is this goes back to an evaluation process that was in full swing 1 year ago and HP wanted private loop. In order to meet HWP's private loop needs, Ancor needed to re-spin its asic ( hence the new asic 4.3 which is now in full production )..Brocade initially won that deal by promising the moon, the sun and the stars, but the story is that McData whipped out the OEM agreement that HWP had with Mcdata ( McData bought HWP's Canadian FC division and HWP agreed to OEM McData's switch..that HWP Cdn division is the same one that Brocade co-founder Kumar M. used to work for )..So while I do not believe that anyone from "HPFC Labs" is posting on Yahoo, the gist if that post is very similar to the story that I have heard.

My take on the HWP/Hitachi/HDS relationship is that:

1) HWP and EMC appear to be parting company ( see the EMC statements yesterday to see tone of statements made about EMC attacking HP accounts with renewed vigor ), thus opening up HP to new relationships and:

2) HDS/ Hitachi is making very strong strides/statements that it intends to be a major player in the Storage/SAN market..HDS making this kind of deal with HWP raises the visibility of Hitachi....I would not rule out any future news coming out of Hitachi as it relates to Ancor.
