I suppose you could make that argument if the price of $.48

Doesn't matter what the price is. If the current price represents fair value, then you would expect to see a drop in share price. If the current price represents an undervalue, then it won't go up as much as it would have before.

A deal could come a lot sooner, wouldn't you think?

Depends what you mean by "deal". One involving a household name and real, actual cash? Not in my lifetime. One involving another bit player in some sort of stock issuing/swapping/retiring convolvement, yeah, that could certainly happen. In a sense, it just did.
