"T is going to have to fork over a huge amount of cash to get the cable infrastructure it needs for broadband." Compared to DSL Cable has a huge headstart on infrastructure. This infrastructure was also created for Digital cable, not just for internet, my point is that internet is not the only reason for the upgrade. If T needed AOL a deal would have been made last year when ATHM and AOL were in talks. As the broadband leader ATHM has the bargaining strength, not AOL.

I am long on AOL and ATHM, but ATHM and T are incredibly strong in Broadband, AOL in narrowband. AOL wants in broadband, T and ATHM are not as interested in narrowband... who needs who?

I think Chase should suck up his pride and make a deal with ATHM. It would be good for both companies!
