Some people talk that way because they're trying to be precise. Others get in the habit and forget how to just say what they mean. This may just be one more thing we have to "thank" the lawyers for. I think you're right. Since he was reading that part from a prepared statement, it probably started out as a ten-word sentence and attained its final form after being processed thru an entire law firm. They're being sued for 'misleading' us investors into buying the stock just before it plunged. I'd develop verbal diarrhea too if it would stave off any more of that sort of nonsense (speaking of which, I wonder what's going on with the suit. Anyone know?).
