"Some important food for thought over the next week. My instinct tells me that it is time that we focus some clear thought on IDT's ISP. Some history here, reveals that the last time this stock touched $40. It did so on the back of speculation that IDT would be making a strong push to expand the ISP, ala Earthlink and Mindspring. Howard Jonas however, decided at that time that he wanted to be profitable first, and only after building a strong company, would he further expand the ISP and net2phone divisions. In other words he did the oppisite of what most internet companies were doing. As a result of this, we now have a great company that is profitable. However the stock market immediately penalized us for neglecting the ISP and the stock has been valued as a clec since then. The company is basically 3 companies. 1. A long distance reseller and wholesaler with a network of Gateways and pops and an almost complete fiber network, as well as favorable termination agreements in most Countries. 2. An ISP 3. Net2phone As most folks know, IDT will soon be spinning off the net2phone division through an IPO and I think we can clearly expect a major announcement as it relates to the ISP as well. To put this in perspective. Earthlink is currently trading at $64 per share with 31,814,000 outstanding shares for a market cap of approx. 2 billion or a per subscriber value of about $814.00 based on 2.5M members. IDT's ISP has about 50,000 paid members and therefore could be valued at 40 million right now . All the company ever had to do to increase this assets value was advertise. Has anyone noticed recently the 1/2 page ads in the New York Times and the 1/4 page ads in USA today for IDT's ISP? Immagine what would happen if the company were to find a way, through advertising and other creative means to increase that membership by as much as 4 fold in say the next 30 days. Would that not increase the value to 160M minimum? My point is that something clearly is going on here. Not only are the ads suddenly appearing but a week ago, a Senior executive at IDT was quoted as making some interesting statements. Here is one article. Did everyone here know that AOL WILL be incorporating net2phone in their chat? So you can just call the person? Its true. soundingboardmag.com In another article in a recent press release this same executive talks about all the exciting things the "newly independant" ISP will now be able to accomplish. Here is the quote: ''We are happy to be working together with Real Networks to ensure that our customers have clear and reliable access to the Internet broadcast programming of their choice now and in the future,'' said Michael Fischberger, Senior Vice President of IDT's Domestic Telecom and Internet Services. ''This is the first of many new initiatives that we have taken to reinvigorate our newly independent Internet division.'' Here is the link: biz.yahoo.com Newly independant? Gee, do you think they could be doing two IPO's? Could that be the reason that soo many underwriters appear to be involved? Either way though, we should prepare to focus on the ISP as my due diligence suggests that the company is about to make a MAJOR push in this area, including advertising and revolutionary new products that will increase the user base dramaticly. Done properly, the ISP alone could be a hugely valuable pice of the puzzle and I think IDT management is getting ready to take full advantage of that. Best regards to all." per Hawaii60, with emphasis..... cheers
