May 5, 1999 04:06 PM
WASHINGTON, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- TV on the WEB, a strategic partner of the Ampex Corp. (Amex: AXC), today conducted an exclusive, live webcast -- available for viewing at any time at www.tvontheweb.com -- of today's historic meeting between Vice President Al Gore and representatives of the high- technology industry.
During today's meeting at the White House, major Internet companies and online providers -- including America Online, Inc., AT&T Corp., the Walt Disney Co., International Business Machines Corp. and Yahoo! Inc. -- agreed to create sites that offer parents tips and software to keep children from viewing Web sites with violent, pornographic or other objectionable material.

Though the meeting took place earlier today, viewers around the world can watch the proceedings as they unfolded by going to www.tvontheweb.com, which will carry unedited and complete footage.

"Today's meeting marks another historic step by the Internet industry to provide parents the tools they need to ensure their children have safe, fun and effective experiences online," said David Gardy, chairman and co-CEO of TV onthe WEB. "Parents, members of industry and consumers in general can view today's proceedings at www.tvontheweb.com. By providing a live webcast of today's meeting, and by making it available to people on-demand, TV onthe WEB is demonstrating the power of streaming video to quickly and effectively disseminate relevant information and engage the public in the process."

Today's meeting at the White House comes nearly a week before a summit on violence in the entertainment industry that President Clinton is scheduled to hold on May 10.

<<Conservatism/close to the vest has been the order of the day for Ampex, and that may simply be the style/personality of Bramson, >>

It is David. The publicity push we are all awaiting will come, but only after all the essential pieces of the plan are up and running and ready to present to the larger investment community.I am almost certain of that.
