You are living in the dinosaur age!

Consider:

-- shareware model getting stronger
-- electronic distribution of software
-- the fact that office suites are "non exciting software"
-- the price you pay for a Corel SUITE on auction sites (for a used
CR Rom)--maybe $20 -$25

How much less valuable is a "used" CD Rom than a new one?

Best wishes,
Jim

Woof Woof! Scott,

Give Dr. C. credit????
since you like it,
He'll probably fire whichever VP backed the thing.

seriously, thanks for the tap on the shoulder. I'll check it out.

At this point in the Linux cycle, the best move is to continue to give away the download if you want them to continue as a player. For this i will give credit, but spread it around. Cowpland is being very well advised on these issues. As long as they can (more or less) cover the development costs thru cd-rom and documentation sales, what they gain in market penetration and good will is worth deferring significant possible profit.

At least he hasn't repeated the "hi i'm mike cowpland and we're here to save linux and make it easy and popular" jive talk. Hope they can keep the duct tape within easy reach when its needed.

Regards,

Leo
