*This is quite true. In fact, our company just changed cel phone companies and each of us (at the company) just got a new TDMA phone as part of the package (sorry no CDMA available, but I did ask). 3 new phones for our family.*

Yes. I believe that this is one of the reasons that ERICY was in such a hurry to do a deal with QCOM . . . it is time for all the folks who bought ERICY handsets two years ago to upgrade (ERICY needed the CDMA agreement to put out a competitive handset). Various reports show a certain amount of loyalty to the producer of the last handset purchased. Folks in the industry tell me that the turnover (upgrading) is rapidly narrowing form the traditional 24 months to less than 18 months. As we move into 3G and beyond it may be able to stabilize at 18 months however.

I only pointed out the handset numbers in previous posts because it is easily quantifiable. LMDS, appliances, and the like are vary nebulous markets at this time. Perhaps our friend Pat can elaborate further on the LMDS market . . .

Has anyone go that PC box estimate for 2002 yet?
