There is one player on the market that is compatible with both MP3 and AAC.

EDIG is swimming in a pond of HUGE opportunity.

The AAC Vs EPAC issue is much larger than is being portrayed on this board.

Both AAC and EPAC will be (IMHO) compatible (along with other specifications) with most of the digital players that are being ramped up for Christmas. This is what matters for EDIG in the short-term.

However, the BIG players have a long-term interest in establishing standards--and they are jockeying to establish their technologies as the standard in a larger context. For example in the context of digital radio, Lucent has its EPAC and USA Digital Radio has a solution based on AAC. These IBOC solutions will be rolling out within the next 2 years.

There are huge $$$ to be made by these technology companies as they begin to deploy their expensive transmitters and receivers across the world. Do you really think that Lucent wants to compete in the small margin world of consumer devices???? GET REAL! Lucent is accustomed to selling a single circuit switch for $7 million dollars.

In addition, I hope that EDIG has built a strong working relationship with the Harris Corporation (current parent company over Lanier). It looks like Harris wants to play in this space also. However, unlike a lot of the heavy weights in this industry, Harris does not appear to be siding with one company's specific technology at this time. Rather, Harris is pushing for rapid implementation of an IBOC solution.

Here is a Harris press release from April 19th:

Just my thoughts,
