Alan, I've only been actively trading short term for about five months. Original capital is still intact. I'm working on a system focused on momentum trading using a custom, real-time scanning application (Visual Basic plus Quote.com's QFeed) for identifying potential breakouts and TA (stoch, OBV and Fibo retracements on QCharts) for confirmation.

Regarding, "...does their homework...", I believe that trading is like any other profession. You have amateurs and you have professionals. Professionals (in any profession) can handle many situations. Amateurs do well until they face a tough situation; then they fall apart. I'm working hard to become a trading professional.

Regards,

Dan.

It's really amazing how these day trading firms have convinced everyone that to day trade you have to average 20 - 100 trades a day.

I wonder when the idea of swing trading will take hold? If it does, it would probably cut the number of online trades in half;)

Maybe it's time to start the "#1 Swing Traders Site - The Really Final Frontier"
