To my surprise, uswest did deliver the replacement Cisco modem yesterday afternoon. Well, the last tech support was right and uswest.net did fix the problem at their end. After installing the new modem, everything worked !! I must say although I was not pleased with the installation experience and I told uswest representative where they should be able to automate to help the new customer, I am extremely pleased with "always on" and the blazing fast response. Now I can easily tell which web site has slower response than others. I might add that this capability of differentiating the response should enable me to switch or choose the most responsive web sites such as in online trading.

Of course, this one day experience is still limited and more report to come as this user makes daily passes thru this new ADSL "last mile technologies".

p.s. One problem remain: the installation of this uswest-megapak service dis-abled my AOL access which USwest told me, before I decided to subscribe, it will work just like it has been. My complaint to USwest is now met with reply like "you'll have to talk ask AOL about the access problem". To me, this is like I drove a car to garage for repair and I could not drive it out again and the garage mechanic tells me to go get help from the dealer from whom I bought the car !!!
