The Internet Stocks are Going to Break Out

by Theo Spradlin

After being hit for the last few trading sessions, the
Internet issues made a strong recovery by the end of the
day and closed on their highs. This momentum should
carry into tomorrow's trading as Investors came running
back to the action and last minute buying on
Wednesday pulled prices up.

Ameritrade Holding Corp., (AMTD), closed up sixteen
points from its intraday low for an overall gain of almost
$7 on 153% of its average daily volume, marking $120.
This price is is almost 70 points from its recent fifty-two
week high and ends a losing streek that almost made it
to day four.

Amazon.com, Inc., (AMZN), recovered some $12-5/8
from its lows today to post a 3-1/2 point gain on above
average volume and close at $146-1/2. AMZN showed
heavy volume at the end of the day also.

America Online Inc., (AOL), reversed by some 15
points today after gapping downward at the open and
closed at $129-3/4, more than 45 points from its recent
highs.

Broadcast.com Inc., (BCST), bounced almost 10 points
from its lows today and posted a modest gain for a close
at $117-3/4.

CNET, Inc., (CNET), turned a 14 point loss into a 3 point
gain and closed at $119.

DoubleClick, Inc., (DCLK), was down by about 10
today, and made a come-back to gain four and close at
$125.

E*TRADE Group, Inc., (EGRP), went from more than 5
points down to post a 9 point gain and close at $112.

Exodus Communications, (EXDS), turned it around and
gained 12-3/4 for a close of $84-3/8.

GeoCities, (GCTY), was down by $6-1/2 and then
reversed with the rest of the market to a close of $108.

Go2Net, Inc., (GNET), traded in a range of more than
24 points today, going from down by 11-3/4 to post a
13-3/4 gain and close at $144-1/2. GNET is about 45
points from its new high of $199.

There are more Internet Issues that similarly performed
today, the sector as a whole closed on strong upward
momentum, and this will continue on Thursday. Be
careful of morning gaps on after hours activity, and set
your mark accordingly. There is strength in these stocks
on the short term level and you may still catch some
upside action.
