Thought it might be too obscure for some, but recent posts have clarified it -g-

I agree with your point here in re 'calling the company' - #reply-9325510
Face-to-face is better, but much can be learned in a phone call about relative integrity and quality of information. As a small part of PF I play around with resource juniors, and the credibility of data like drilling results and the credibility of the interpretation of that data is always an issue. Also the paper games - the share structure and where it's headed, stuff like that. Two of the things I watch out for - evasion of difficult yet logical questions and excessive promotion. One outfit I called a lot last fall answered most questions straight-out, unembellished, and to a few answered 'we don't know yet' or 'we can't say due to regs' ... just the facts Ma'am, and all their facts checked out ... their drill bits didn't have much luck so far but I was impressed with the people. Holding down the enthusiasm is hard for geologists because they go through life expecting to hit a gazillion barrels or ounces on the next hole - that's what keeps them going. The guy you were talking to there, john - #reply-9325028 - he's seen a few mining stories, and a paper mine or two as well, I bet ... you get to know what questions to ask, how to judge the answers, how to read between the lines, how to read the people.
