PB,

Typical design guy response. What's wrong with that? You got something against process enhancements extending the life of a perfectly good, high yielding core?

No, but it is one heck of a lot faster, easier and cheaper to do logic speedpath reduction on a new design, than it is to develop and qualify new manufacturing parameters, new design rules, retool fabs, etc.

PB - RE: "AMD's process s*cks so much they require a newly designed core every 1.5 years."

Ahhh, you say that now. IF the K7 turns out to be everything that is expected of it, I will be able to twist your statement and say Intel's process sucks so much that they can't put out a newly redesigned core every 1.5 years. (I wouldn't necessarily make that comment, but it gets the point across.)
