Yeah, but Sandia has a 400 node cluster of Linux boxes running on Decpaq Alpha and linked with myrinet, Ames has a 128 node PPro cluster and NIH has a 64-node dual-cpu cluster that killed an IBM SP2 purchase (cost of ~$200k vs $1M++ for approximately equivalent compute power).

So, Linux with Beowulf is well into a portion of the super-computing space, just not quite to SGI's portion yet (though the days of ganging Challenges and Origins via HiPPI are probably close to over, but not just because of Linux).
