I have a few newbie questions on EBP. But first let me say that I see CKFR product through routine business with a local bank that the company I work for does business with. That product I see is reports generated for commercial loan statements. So CKFR isn't a "pure play" internet company. Some may not like that, but that seems to be the reality.

Nevertheless, I'm interested in CKFR, but have a few questions:

1) My niece has their family checking account at a very large bank, Wells Fargo (WFC). From the internet, she can access her account, view transaction history, *and* pay her monthly bills. Does anyone know if CKFR product is involved in assisting Wells Fargo?

2) I do my personal banking at Washington Mutual, a regional bank (WAMU). I signed a form when I bought my house for "automatic debit" for my house payment, back in Dec. of 1994. It's wonderful. I've never had to worry about making the pmt on time, since it's automatically drafted from my checking account. All I have to do is make sure the balance is always high enough to cover the payment. I bought a new car last fall, and signed a form with WAMU to have that payment also drafted from my account with automatic debit. Wonderful. I also signed up with US West Communications (telephone bill) when they offered to draft my checking account automatically. Again, wonderful. I don't even have to think about my phone bill. Now I've signed up with NW Natural, my local natural gas company (house furnace & water heater are natural gas), when they offered to draft my account automatically.

So I have, drafted from my account automatically:
House payment
Car payment
Phone bill payment
Natural Gas utility payment

Wonderful. Why bother with the comparative "hassle" of going to a website to click "pay bill". Right now I don't have to do anything to pay the above bills, and did I mention I think that's wonderful?

Lastly, does anyone know of CKFR product is assisting by providing software to WAMU (my bank) or to the above mentioned phone and utility companies, to enable these payments to be drafted from my account?

I'd like to be on the right train, but I'm not convinced yet that CKFR is the train of the future. I'm open to enlightenment.

>>>>And although sources say a deal between CheckFree and Yahoo is imminent, Dent (VP of Transpoint) wonders, "Will consumers trust Yahoo with their money?"....

I wonder the same thing myself....but I figure enough will put is past them and just do it to make a difference...like 5% of the Yahoo! audience would mean a 100% kicker in CheckFree's total customer numbers. Also, and most importantly IMO...it's exposure of this type of service daily to Millions and Millions and Millions of Consumers....I say so what if they don't trust Yahoo! with their money? Let them go to a BANK or BROKER to do it, we got 80% of them too. It's the exposure Stupid!

To paraphrase Carvell...
