Nat Nithi, fyi, Merrill has had a 1-1-9 rating on AOL, their highest, uninterruptedly since Oct 98, even before the SUNW/NSCP system. Per my broker, this hasn't changed recently,

It is not that complicated.
1) regarding other internet companies: they must have IPOed those internets and
want to take some profit for the coming quarters on some of the internets.
2) MER was sleeping while everybody loaded AOL and hence are in a hurry to
satisfy a customer or two.
3) May be they got pissed off by AOL.
4) They have a Kurlock ghost dawned on their internet Anal-yst(s).
5) Last and the very least they found something smoking in AOL.

Personally I give less than 5% importance to all those analysts.
