WaterChef Makes Drinking Water News in the Phillippines
GLEN HEAD, N.Y., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- David A. Conway, President/CEO of WaterChef (Nasdaq: WTER - news), announced today that ''Counterpart International, a philanthropic foundation based in Washington D.C., has announced that it has selected WaterChef to provide its Village Water Center for the low income housing developments to be built by Counterpart International in the Philippine Islands. The first development, to be built in Negros Occidental, is slated to begin during the second half of 1999.''

''The WaterChef Village Water Center (patent pending), converts 'grey' or dirty water into purified drinking water. The Village Water Center provides up to 5,000 gallons of drinking water per day, sufficient to satisfy the minimum daily needs of up to 3,500 persons. The system is designed to operate very economically and allows for the sales of purified water for drinking and cooking to be sold at below market prices. The annual revenue generated, even at below market pricing, is sufficient to pay for the system, pay for the wages of attendants, buy and install replacement filters and consumables and have enough left over to purchase additional systems.''

''The Village Water System is built in a modular fashion allowing WaterChef to customize the system to respond to whatever threat is identified in the water to be treated. For instance, sea water infiltrating drinking water wells can be addressed by the Village Water Center.''

WaterChef is a Nasdaq Bulletin Board Company trading under the symbol ''WTER.'' WaterChef has factories in Havre, Montana and Tianjin, China where it manufactures water coolers and also sells water filtering systems for office and home use. Sales offices are located in Phoenix, Arizona and Glen Head, New York where the headquarters are located.
