Thanks for your post. I agree that telco M&A activity is likely relevant to any Telco thread. Consider posting stuff like this in the following less stock specific thread. Even though it has an emphasis on BBFW, MANY telco, telecom and datacom issues are relevant and appreciated there:

I have heard Tom Jermoluk, CEO of ATHM, speak three separate times on this issue. Each time, he stated that there was a weakness in their @Work subsidiary in terms of coverage. Each time, he specifically mentioned wireless as one of the most probable solutions, along with DSL. He never mentioned extending cable.

On the AT&T conference calls, C. Michael Armstrong always says that AT&T will use "fixed wireless and DSL", stated in that order, where his cable does not reach. You can hear it in the replays for yourself.
