I brought it up because I've been struggling to
understand what you mean when you talk about a
"right". From reading your postings, I've gotten
the impression that your idea of a right is anything
that's left over after we (you?, the majority?)
decide what's in society's best interest. To me,
that's the same as saying that there are no rights
because my idea of a right is something that is
fundamental and can't be taken away.

So, is there a "right" to free speech if the
government can decide (based on as many studies
as you feel are needed) that fictional novels
(or television, or religion, or non-conforming
political views) are not good for society and
so therefor must be restricted? Or is free
speech a privilege that people enjoy until
such time as the government opts to curtail it
to provide some benefit to society at large?
