Cecil,

How were you planning on using the CAM in APEX? I have doubts about how well the claimed casdadability will work for deeper CAMs. Did you see any figures for performance for unencoded matching without don't care bits? How many cycles of latency if any, and what kind of cycle time (MHz)?

I'm curious about performance for APEX. I have been unable to get any intelligible performance information, except from Xilinx, but I suspect that info may be a bit biased ;). I have a design coming up for some video processing at 140MHz. I'm sure either APEX or Virtex can do the line FIFOs at that speed (Virtex has proven it can, Apex claims it can and ought to be able to unless Altr really screwed up the architecture or tech.), but I'm concerned about a 5x5 anti-aliasing filter in Apex.

Schlep,

I was merely speculating that Sylvia Dupuis may be an Ed Dupuis I knew from years ago in this industry - I certainly have no information to substantiate this speculation.
