re what would you pay for a company that "no one can know" what their earnings are going to be two years hence? A company that you suspect may be in the red. Gosh, this is scary.

Gee, Zeev,

In the case of AMZN, people KNOW it will still be in the red for several years, no one is able to predict when (if) it will EVER be profitable, and some people are still paying $140 for it....

Using that metric, CYMI looks like basalt!

Zeev, Re <<Mani, what would you pay for a company that "no one can know" what their earnings are going to be two years hence?>>

Well, that is exactly it. In my post I said "I would take a wild guess and say it should be about $1.60. And yes, if I am right CYMI is very much under valued."

I should have added: "but since there is no assurance of me being right the stock is not that much under valued"

I remember that in 1997 the prediction was for CYMI to earn $2.50/share (pre-split) in 1998 fiscal year. So even at $80/share and its growth rate I considered it a good value. Boy was I wrong, and I paid for it dearly. I lost close to all of my profits which I got from buying it near IPO price.

I like to think that I am a bit wiser now, (CYMI was the first stock I owned), but who knows.

CYMI by nature is very cyclical thus it will not carry a high PE (going forward) at boom times. Considering the market, I think that CYMI has virtually no chance of hitting $200/share (TM Curly) until 2010, unless they enter other markets.
