Peridontal disease has been linked to an increased risk of stroke and MI. A report from the University Heidelberg and the German Cancer Research Center indicated that patients with chronic dental infections, such as gingivitis, were 2½ times more likely to suffer a stroke than patients without a history of the infection. Previous research had found that Porphyromanas gingivalis has shown up in diseased carotid arteries, and that patients with a history of gum disease had a doubled rate of heart attack and tripled rate of stroke than patients without the infection>>
