Anyone see this. Gapped yesterday. Raised by analysts. Announces today it is cutting >500 jobs. I guess the analysts want to unload their shares. Any opinions?

NEW YORK, May 6 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter said it upgraded National Semiconductor Corp. (NSM - news), and a market source said Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette did the same.

-- Morgan Stanley said it raised the company to outperform from neutral.

-- The source said DLJ went to buy from market perform.

-- Further details were not immediately available.

-- National Semiconductor said on Wednesday it will quit the PC processor business and, as a consequence, cut 550 jobs and take up to $300 million in charges as it focuses on chips for new smart devices.

-- shares closed at 17-11/16 on Wednesday.
