Really? I thought that Circuit City has been taking orders for Nokia 6185 for several days and that Radio Shack is starting to sell it next week. I'm not sure that qualifies as "nowhere in sight".

Besides - the original claim was about reaching volume sales first. The Motorola strategy of shipping 1'000 units of new models in selected sites gives the company bragging rights of an early launch. It does little for quarterly sales growth. The competitive edge of Nokia lies in ramping up production faster than other companies.
