Did you load a CD labeled "Virtual Machine" first? It has Java stuff on it and could help.

hi pmn,

you probably need to upgrade to a more current version of your browser. there may be other problems as well, but i'd look at that first.

if you have a current version, maybe you do not have java and javascript enabled in your advanced preference settings. i don't think that would cause an 'illegal operation' error, but you did say it was java related.

just some thoughts for you to consider.
