Sure.. They'll just dip into that huge reservor of cash they have from all those wildly successful quarters making tons of money. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

AMD will have a major legal problem with your scenario.

About four years ago, Intel and AMD settled all litigation and AMD was allowed to manufacture 486 on the condition that AMD would copy the Intel bus architecture only until Pentium, ie Socket 7.

Thus AMD cannot use Socket 370.

If they do, AMD's legal expenses will skyrocket !

Does Cyrix legally still have access to Intel's stuff?

I thought Cyrix only got access to Intel's stuff through National Semi.
