Re Mr. Greenspan..sense a lot of annoyance with him this morning. But he is a force, and when he talks, part of the markets listen. I need a dictionary at hand when he speaks, but what I get is that he's worried about a resumption of inflation (as he's been since Dow 6,000). I see the long-bond at 5.77% and maybe the market will bring rates higher (they typically do) before the FOMC meeting next week. So if the Fed raises rates 1/8 or 1/4, it'll probably be a buying opportunity. Meanwhile I sold the rest of my NITE, holding 300 shares EUSA. Greenspan does not want to be remembered as the Fed Chief that killed this market, but he does want to be re-appointed and it's my sense that his decision will be based on integrity and the best evidence he has at hand. My gut says we've seen a temporary top...with terrific buying opportunities next week. (Lee).
