Howard--Greenspan did answer a question re: y2k's affect/effect on markets before CNBC cut back to regular programming. Essentially he said he was less concerned about effects in the U.S. now than he was a year ago. He recognized the problems abroad. He expected behavior based fear and uncertainty to be the biggest problem. Keep your money in the bank. CNBC returned to regular programming before he finished answering the question.

Frankly, I think the statement involved a lot of mumbling (literally)and rambling (considerable.) All in all not the kind of coherent response I've come to expect from him even if I don't agree with his views. It made me wonder if he's got a clue at all.

Could you please post the Reuter's story? I would like to compare what I heard to what was reported.
