Yes, Pravin, you are right, but IBM already has copper, so taking the Portland fab would be a step down, but still too expensive for low margin jelly beans or MPU's. I still say that TSMC is the best fit. True, they are foreign, but they have a partnership with Analog Devices in Portland, Oregon to do foundary work, so I doubt that the US government would step in, especially after what happened to National at their Pollyup (?) fab, in which the government stepped in, but the fab would up being sold to Japanese interests anyway. TI already has enough capacity for what they need, but Motorola would also be a nice fit.
