The weakness today imo has less to do with the perceived "threat" of ATT, and more to do with the assumption that the FED is becoming more hawkish. FWIW, I found nothing unusual AT ALL in Greenspan's remarks today...but alas it doesn't matter what I think. I have long felt that the "market" (i.e. the brokerage houses who stand to lose the most if rates are hiked) likes to drop itself shortly before FED meetings...almost as if to say 'we are correcting ourselves just nicely, thank you.'
