Jeff, I'm not aware of any Intel specific rumors. The only thing I'm aware of is folks worrying about interest rates going up due to Greenspan comments. Could just be some profit taking.

Jeff - Re: "Why is INTC stock cratering here on heavier volume? Is there a rumor or something out there? The type of trading I am seeing today is reminiscent of a news story leaking or a preannouncement"

Maybe "the Market" thinks Intel will be the next company to EXIT the x86 CPU business.

Those that have been going up the most are coming down the most, especially semis. Oh, that is except for the superstars of semis, AMD and NSM, which are not down. That's probably because of their immense promise. The upgrades of NSM today are laughable. One has them making 50 cents a share in 2000. Like wow, at a PE of 30, make that $15 a share. Oh wow.
