lMarket fear: will the increase in non-farm payrolss be more than the expected 215,000? If so (considering Greenspan's concern about the very tight labour market and the possibility of increased inflation), the market could tank in the mornig--therefore, there are few people brave enough to commit big funds today. Also, higher interest rates adversely affect high p/e stocks.

I agree with you, Sam. The Fed will leave rates unchanged until early next year at which time they will lower them.
