I think it's because it is all about content. AOL spends a lot of money creating reasons to come online. Thats the key. Have you looked at Yahoo recently, its not just a web search engine anymore... its a full fledged media company. AOL is a media company... think TIME Warner, FOX, etc.

Web-TV needs to develop the content end... but its hard to quantify this stuff...
Look at the ads for Web-TV.... what are they selling? Access to the internet? Look at what ads for AOL are selling.... Content, and access to the internet.
